Museo Yancuic: Laura Elena Presents the Book Juego de Pelota in Mexico City
Laura had the pleasure to present her book at the Museo Yancuic in Mexico City.
As part of her book tour across Mexico, author, illustrator, and Editorial Parangueo Co-founder & CEO Laura Elena Rodríguez Garcidueñas presented her children’s book, Juego de Pelota: Descubre sus secretos con La Catrina Bohemia, at Museo Yancuic in Mexico City.
Recognized for its innovative approach to learning through interactive experiences, Museo Yancuic provided the ideal setting for children and families to discover the history and cultural significance of the Mesoamerican ball game. Organized by the Secretaría de Cultura de México and the Dirección General de Patrimonio Histórico, Artístico y Cultural, the event celebrated Mexico’s living traditions through literature, conversation, and hands-on learning.
A memorable part of the presentation was the participation of Escuela Pelota Mixteca CDMX Moctezuma Aeropuerto and the Asociación de Jugadores de Juegos de Origen Prehispánico A.C. Its representative, Ing. Jacobo Victoria, brought traditional gloves, balls, and playing equipment, allowing children to experience Pelota Mixteca up close.
The experience was further enriched when an Ulama player (Ricardo Trigueros) attending the event shared the ball used in his sport, giving visitors the rare opportunity to compare two living traditions that trace their origins to the ancient Mesoamerican ball game.
